The Moodna Creek Watershed Intermunicipal Council (Watershed Group WaveMaker) is a unique watershed group within the Hudson Valley. It is a combination of 15 municipalities and 14 non-municipal members, including non-profit organizations and individuals. The Moodna Creek watershed covers about 20% of Orange County, NY, and meets the Hudson near Plum Point, at the northern gateway to the Hudson Highlands.
Jay Beaumont has led the Council as chairperson for three years. Jay is a diligent and thorough leader, and as a retired civil engineer, has brought a broad base of knowledge to the Council.
The Council has served as a venue for critical discussions on a variety of topics, including water quality, flooding, drought, dams, biodiversity, and water rights. The Council’s focus on increasing access to the Moodna Creek and its tributaries, in addition to educational and stewardship-building efforts, has increased awareness and appreciation of the watershed and its natural resources.
